  1. Oct 28, 2014  From the Mail app select the Window pulldown menu, then select Connection Doctor. Let Connection Doctor do it’s thing and report back to us what the failure message is. You can also check your Gmail settings by Mail-Preferences-Accounts-Select the Gmail account-Account Information and verify that the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) has an entry.
  2. Mar 10, 2015  Today I added my Gmail account to Mail. Mail is not registering any problems when I send from my Gmail account. Anything I send is placed in the 'sent' folder. When I log into Gmail any emails I send (from the Mail app) are present in the Gmail 'sent items' folder. HOWEVER, none of the emails are actually being sent.

We recommend that if you have any Mail that is linked to the app from an external source – whether it is an online account or a symbolic link to an external hard drive – you should disassociate it or delete the account from Mail as El Capitan seems to have problems accessing such accounts until a definitive fix is released by Apple.

Several people are experiencing issues with Gmail (especially G Suite) email accounts in Mail on Mac. It seems that the Mail App is not working as expected for some Gmail users. More specifically, some Gmail users have said that after installing the macOS 10.14.4, and launching the Mail app, some Gmail users are asked to authenticate their email addresses. They get a notification saying:

“Enter the password for the account “(null)”: Google requires completing authentication in Safari.” This takes users to a Google web login form. However, shortly after authenticating, the Mail app asks for authentication once again, and again, as the process does not stick and goes into an endless loop.

Please note that we contacted Apple regarding this issue, and we were told that Apple is currently working on a fix.
