I have an old Sony Camcorder HC32 with a 4 port Firewire adapter. In the past I used to transfer my DV videos seamlessly to my old Macbook G4 using 400 firewire ports 4 to 6 pin cable.

My G4 has gone long time ago and now I have a new Mac mini with Thunderbolt interface. I was hoping that the thunderbolt to firewire 800 9 pin adapter and a 400 to 800 4 to 9 pin cable would do the job just fine, but it is not working.. iMovie just don't recognise my camera and I am unable to import my remaining 25 tapes.

Does anyone experienced similar issue and have any troubleshooting suggestion for me to apply?
