Ideally, Skype for Business conversation history get saved on your outlook Conversation History folder as soon as you close IM conversation.

Basically, conversation history feature is dependent on Exchange Web Services (EWS), if EWS has issue then conversation will not save in conversation history folder.

There are several reasons for conversation not save in outlook conversation history folder.
  • First test, if EWS is correctly configure and working by browsing EWS URL on affected user’s machine.
  • If your mailbox is on exchange online, then your EWS URL will be:
    https://outlook.office365.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
  • Browser above URL and then it will ask user email address and password to shows result.
    Above result is expected result and that proves that EWS is working and configured.
  • For On-prem Exchange server, EWS URL format:
    https://mail.yourSMTPdomain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx

Below are step you can follow to resolve conversation history and calendar sync issue:

Make sure that your EWS URL shows correctly in Skype for Business configuration information:

Press CTRL key and Right click on SfB Icon and select “Configuration Information”, like below.

Configuration Information should show, ESW URL and EWS information: like below

If EWS URL and EWS Information status shows correctly like above, but still Conversation History not saving in outlook Conversation history folder and calendar information not showing then follow the below steps:

Most of time this issue occurs because profile corruption.

1. Deleting the user Skype for Business SIP folder will clear the user cache and force to re-create SIP Profile again.
2. On affected Machine: Start > Run > type “%localappdata%MicrosoftOffice15.0Lync”

a. Once folder open delete or rename folders starting sip_, like [email protected]

1. Login to Skype for Business again and wait for 3-4 min to see calendar information and then send IM to others to see if IM get saved in conversation history folder after closing the conversation.

Make sure to keep SIP Domain (Skype for Business) and SMTP Domain (Email) and same.

1. In some cases, Skype for Business client didn't trust the autodiscover certificate if the SMTP domain is different from SIP Domain.
2. You can add below Registry key to solve above certificate issue: (Changing registry may affect your computer OS operation so, take backup of registry before adding or removing registry key.)

3. Reboot your machine and Sign-in to Skype for Business and test IM conversation.

1. If issue persist, then take backup of Conversation History folder and then Delete the same.
2. Recreate Conversation History folder in Outlook and then exit Skype for Business and reopen Skype for Business client then Test IM and calendar.
3. Recreate Outlook profile and set mailbox default delivery instead of PST file.
4. Test IM and calendar data shows in Skype for Business client.

Locate Skype Chat History on Mac

Step-1

Click on “Finder” icon from the dock of your Mac. From the menu, navigate through “Go” > “Home”.

Step-2

Go through the folders “Library” > “Application Support” > “Skype”. Then open the folder with your Skype name and from there access the file “main.db” and copy/backup it on your computer.

Note: You can not normally open this main.db file, but it contains all of your Skype chat history.

Transfer Skype History from Mac to PC

Once you have located the main.db file on your Mac (OS X Mavericks, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard) copy this history file on a portable device for transferring it to your PC.
