    TECHNICAL INFO

A NOTE ABOUT SERVICE MANUALS: For whatever reason, Apple has made it difficult for Macintosh owners to find an 'official' web site from which to download Service Manuals for their products.

    However..you might try the following:

      • This link will be updated as needed

The Apple User Manuals search site at http://www.info.apple.com/support/manuals.htmlmay require you to register with a username and password of yourchoosing before you are allowed to access Apple's Knowledge Basedocuments.

      • See below for more info on using Netscape 4.0.8 on a Mac with system versions less than 7.6x
    • Netscape 4.0.8 Download Site
      • Erno Helen reported running NS4.08 on a 7.5.5 Quadra 700 very happily. You just use the Custom Install feature and just continue when it warns about your OS being not up to it.
      • I have installed and run Netscape 4.0.8 (stand-alone) onseveral 68K Macs with only system 7.5, and it works very well. I didthis using the Easy Install option, and just 'continuing' past the System 7.6x warning window.
      • You must have the extension CFM-68K Runtime Enabler 4.0 installed for this to work.
      • The CFM-68K Runtime Enabler 4.0 extension requires the ObjectSupportLib 1.2 extension.
    • Download CFM-68K Runtime Enabler 4.0 with ObjectSupportLib 1.2

      • PLENTY for 68k machines!
    • Download MaxAppleZoom, Mode32* version 1.2, SoftwareFPU and MUCH MORE
      • *IMPORTANT: This version of Mode32 SHOULD NOT be used with System 7.5. Use of MODE32 version 1.2 with System 7.5 may cause serious file corruption. If you have already installed version 1.2 (the control panel version) into a System 7.5 system - or even if you have already removed it - reinstall fresh System Software. Version 1.2 of MODE32 can cause file resource corruption in System 7.5. The only way to correct the problem is to reinstall a fresh version System Software 7.5. Once you have reinstalled System Software, you can use version 7.5 of MODE32 to gain 32-Bit Addressing capability.
      • Download Mode32 for System 7.5
